The Blount County Rescue Squad (BCRS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that has been serving the citizens of Blount County since 1958. BCRS is staffed completely by volunteers, and there is no charge for our services. All funding for BCRS comes from generous donations from our community. We receive no funding from government agencies.

Last year the Blount County Rescue Squad handled over 1,500 calls for service. This resulted in OVER 31,000 miles of driving, and 20,000 VOLUNTEER hours!

This equates to over $500,000 worth of services to the community with no impact on taxes.

Matthew Cagle Sworn in as New Shift Captain

Blount County Rescue Squad member Matthew Cagle was today sworn in as the squad’s newest shift captain. Matthew Cagle was the first graduate of BCRS’s Captain Shadowing program. He will replace Cpt Laura Osgood as acting shift captain. Congrats, Matt!

The Blount County Rescue Squad prides itself on helping to foster highly trained, skilled, and certified emergency care members. This requires many hours of training and education. In the first year alone, there are over 280 hours of training including 188 hours of shift training. Your donation of $1,000 will help sponsor a new member.

There are different types of memberships within the rescue squad, such as comprehensive rescue, support operations, search and rescue / water rescue and recovery, and our junior squad (ages 14-17). We also have our Blue Squadron who help with maintenance, bookkeeping, computer work, fundraising, community awareness, etc..
